Defeat In Presidential Election
Gore may have decided that others had taken up the banner of climate change. He had spent decades in politics and, therefore, in the public eye. He was defeated when he ran for president, which was based on a narrow vote margin, and this may have changed his mind about public service.
He is back. Maybe because he sees that climate change problem getting worse, fast.
