Perhaps one of the world’s largest makers and marketers of luxury cars has decided to go green, replacing remarkably powerful engines with an EV-based model. Ferrari started to build incredibly fast cars in 1939. According to CNBC “The electric model’s launch is scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2025 and has already sparked debate in the automotive community and among car collectors.” The most expensive Ferraris cost well over $500,000 and are prized for their 700 horsepower engines, among the most powerful in the world. Climatecrisis247 believes this is a risk that the high-end sports car is willing to take because it sees EVs as a significant part of the future of car engines. It is a risk that in a soft EV market, it will launch the car too soon.

The University of Tasmania has released a paper showing that the number of wildfires worldwide is skyrocketing. Titled “Extreme bushfires increasing in number and intensity,” its authors wrote, “The study shows that not only has the number of extreme bushfires more than doubled between 2003 and 2023, but the average intensity of the 20 most extreme bushfires each year has more than doubled during this time.” The research partially blamed the rise in global temperatures. Climatecrisis247 believes that, although the numbers are staggering, they represent a pattern seen in the US. According to the National Interagency Fire Center, 3,960,842 acres were burned by wildfires in 2003. The number reached 10,122,336 in 2020 and was above 7 million in the following two years. The authors added, “Immediate global action is necessary to tackle the root causes of climate change. We must also develop more effective wildfire management practices tailored to each local area’s specific needs,” Climatecrisis247 believes this is another example of the fact that nations rarely take action to slow climate change individually. There is also no global plan to address the issues this study raises.

Artic Ice Melting

The British Arctic Study has released a research project titled “New tipping point discovered beneath the Antarctic ice sheet.” Its authors report, “The research focuses on how relatively warm seawater can lap at the underside of ground-based ice, which can accelerate the movement of the ice into the ocean.” This is based on an entirely new scientific model showing ice can melt faster and raise ocean levels faster than past data showed. Climatecrisis247 believes that this is one more advanced set of scientific discoveries that show the effects of global warming are accelerating. Very few scientific papers show that it is slowing.

More Climate Lawsuits

Another growing number of states and cities are considering suing fossil fuel companies for the harm they have done to local environments. The most recent is Boulder, Colorado. CPR News states, “The complaint argues Exxon Mobil and Suncor Energy spent decades misleading the public about the dangers of unchecked fossil fuel consumption.” The suit will request money for damages, which include wildfires and flooding. Climatecrisis247 believes this long line of suits will face hurdles. They are often compared to the successful suits against Big Tobacco. However, those tobacco suits found that some tobacco use was after cigarette companies knew about the dangers. The suits, however, are aimed at the health effects on individuals and not a broader group.
