Chevy EV Sales Double While Tesla Declines: See the EV Models Overtaking Tesla in Popularity

In the first quarter of 2025, Tesla’s U.S. EV sales dropped 8.6% compared to the same period last year. Once commanding over half the market, Tesla’s share now sits at 43.5% – its lowest in recent years. The drop comes as legacy automakers and new entrants rapidly scale up production, introduce new models, and cut prices.

Among the biggest winners is Chevrolet. Chevy EV sales more than doubled year over year , fueled by the launches of the Blazer and Equinox EVs. Ford, Nissan, and BMW also posted gains, while Toyota and Subaru turned in breakout quarters. Even the Tesla Cybertruck, despite lofty sales projections, wasn’t enough to offset sharp declines in Model Y and Model S sales.
