October Heat May Set New Temperature Records in These Cities Today

A warming trend is combining with the season’s first strong Santa Ana winds, pushing temperatures into the upper 80s.
Several cities in the area could set temperature records today, including Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. And while the heat wave is driving temperatures to historic highs in the Los Angeles metro area, other pockets of abnormal October heat could set records in parts of Texas and Florida. A closer look at the data reveals the cities that could set temperature records today.
To determine the cities that could break heat records today, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on historical weather observations from the NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information and temperature forecasts from the National Digital Forecast Database. Weather stations were ranked based on the difference in forecast maximum high for October 28, 2025 and the historical record maximum for October 28. Only cities with at least 10,000 residents and 25 years of historical data were considered.
