Used Hybrid, EV Prices Are Falling for These Models

Following a long period of decline, used car prices are climbing once again this year. According to a recent study published by iSeeCars, an online marketplace for used vehicles, the average price of a 1-to-5 year-old used vehicle had been falling steadily for the last two and a half years. Now, in 2025, used car prices have been up year-over-year every month since March. The latest data shows that the average sale price for a used vehicle this past July was $31,770 – 3.7% more than it was in July 2024.
Not all segments of the used car market have followed the broader trend, however. The same report found that the average price for a used electric vehicle was $30,594 in July, reflecting a 1.3% year-over-year decline.
Falling prices for used EVs will help make EV ownership more affordable for many Americans at a time when government policies designed to incentivize a transition away from gas-powered vehicles are on the chopping block. Currently, Americans buying a new EV are able to claim up to $7,500 in federal tax credits on their purchase. Under a new law passed by the Trump administration, however, these tax benefits are set to expire at the end of September 2025.
For those considering an EV, the used market can still offer good value, even without government subsidies – as prices for several EV and hybrid models have fallen considerably in the last 12 months.
Using data from iSeeCars, Climate Crisis 247 identified the used hybrid and EV models with the largest price declines. The vehicles on this list are ranked by the relative year-over-year change in their average sale price. All data is current as of July 2025. Only used models between 1 and 5 years old were factored into price averages and year-over-year price change calculations.
