1,000 lightning Strikes Ignite Wildfires
Doug McIntyre, editor-in-chief at Climate Crisis 247, highlights the alarming acceleration of extreme weather events due to climate change. California recently experienced three wildfires ignited by a thousand lightning strikes within a short period. The Midwest is also seeing a record number of tornadoes. Additionally, Hurricane Beryl, a Category 5 storm, is currently the earliest such hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic. McIntyre warns that this trend suggests a record-breaking hurricane season in terms of storm intensity and formation speed. These events underscore the rapidly worsening impact of climate change.
