An end for these end zones? Climate Change Threatens Home of jets and Giants

A recent ClimateX study indicates that NFL stadiums face a total of $11 billion in potential climate-related damages by 2050, with about half of that risk concentrated at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Situated in the Meadowlands, a swampy region prone to flooding and storm surges, the stadium’s location near the Atlantic coast significantly increases its vulnerability, something that could cause $5.6 billion in damage. As climate change accelerates, stadiums across the country are at risk, from extreme heat in Phoenix to flooding in coastal areas.
