Dangerous Plastic Pollution Found in U.S. Waterways

Citizen scientists across 14 countries collected nearly 50,000 pellets along rivers, lakes, and coasts, with 68% of sites reporting contamination. McIntyre emphasized that the problem extends beyond the environment—most people now carry microplastics or nanoplastics in their bodies, raising serious health concerns.
