Ford’s Risky Gamble on Affordable EV
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports that Ford is promoting 2025 as its “Model T moment” by launching a series of affordable EVs. Historically, the original Model T revolutionized car manufacturing through assembly-line production, lowering costs and boosting sales. However, McIntyre notes that the current EV market is weak, Ford’s EV sales have been disappointing, and the company has already lost over $30 billion on its electric vehicle push. Without a shift in consumer demand, Ford’s new lineup may struggle to succeed.
