Nicht so schnell! BMW pushes EU to Pause Fossil Fuel Penalties Amid EV Slowdown
BMW’s CEO is calling on the EU to reconsider its plans to penalize automakers for still producing gas-powered vehicles by the end of the decade. The original goal was to boost EV adoption and reduce Europe’s carbon footprint, but consumer interest in EVs has declined, with significant sales drops in Germany. This trend extends beyond Europe, with stagnant EV growth also occurring in the U.S. BMW argues that current regulatory targets may not be achievable, given the lack of consumer demand, and suggests that governments should rethink their approach to emissions regulations.
