Our huge lake is now nothing! Extreme Heat Wipes out Vast areas of fresh water

Central Asia’s Uzbekistan is experiencing extreme temperatures as high as 122 degrees, in part due to the disappearance of the Aral Sea, once the world’s fourth-largest freshwater lake, which has vanished due to climate change and other factors. This alarming trend is not isolated; the Amazon River, which supports millions and spans over a thousand miles, is also showing major signs of drought, with its reduced water levels hindering shipping along parts of the river. The drying of these major freshwater bodies highlights the growing threat climate change poses to lakes and rivers worldwide.
