Phoenix Replaces Lawns by Paying Cash
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports that Phoenix’s green lawns are disappearing due to worsening water shortages from the Colorado River. With lawn watering as the city’s top residential water use, construction in some areas will be halted due to lack of water. The city has introduced a grass removal incentive, offering residents $2 for every square foot of lawn removed, aiming to conserve water in one of the fastest-growing U.S. cities.
