Rivian Struggles as EV Sales Slow
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, discusses Rivian’s challenges in the slowing U.S. EV market. Despite strong reviews, Rivian faces competition from Tesla, which dominates with 50% market share, and GM, which is climbing toward 10%. Large automakers are temporarily shifting back to gas-powered vehicles while keeping EV operations alive, betting on a rebound in five years. McIntyre warns that if recovery takes a decade instead, the industry could face massive financial losses — though the biggest players may have the resources to endure them.
