Sales set to fly – Maybe even in the U.S. – as China’s $10,000 Seagull EV debuts

China’s BYD, the world’s biggest EV manufacturer, has just introduced a $10,000 electric auto, the Seagull, a move that poses a big threat to American and European car manufacturers. At present, 100% tariffs are preventing the modestly priced model, which has garnered rave reviews, from entering the U.S. market; however, given its price, it would still be cheaper than most American offerings, even with the heavy levy. And if these tariffs are lifted or lowered, U.S. carmakers will face even more significant competition because they lack affordable options, even with a $25,000 Tesla now in development.
