Students Face Staggering Weather In Heat Domes

Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports that nearly 6 million students across 1,200 public schools in major U.S. cities are being exposed to extreme temperatures due to the urban heat island effect. According to Axios and Climate Central, cities like Louisville, Orlando, and Newark have over 95% of their K–12 populations attending school in conditions intensified by heat domes. McIntyre underscores the lack of regulation protecting children from attending school in such hazardous heat.
