According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, West Texas is experiencing the worst type of drought on its scale. It extends to southern New Mexico. The areas have been without meaningful rainfall for so long that the ability to raise cattle or crops is virtually gone. Residents can either wait for years or migrate to another part of the US.
