Scientists said climate change may have caused heavy rain that caused massive floods in Dubai. However, they aren’t sure. World Weather Attribution published a study titled “Heavy precipitation hitting vulnerable communities in the UAE and Oman becoming an increasing threat as the climate warms.” The authors wrote, “The disagreement between model results and observations prevents us from concluding with certainty that human-induced climate change is the main driver making this event more likely.” Climatecrisis247 believes this is an example of how science often identifies events possibly caused by climate change, but scientific analysis is complex. Therefore, major weather events sometimes occur without specific causes.

Energy –Is Big Oil Here To Stay?

GHGSat, a set of satellites that monitor greenhouse gas emissions, found that the methane leaks from the Nord Stream gas pipeline in 2022 proved that its system could detect major greenhouse gas events. According to the FT, “We had done a bunch of R&D to convince ourselves it worked, but Nord Stream was so big it was the first really clear example to demonstrate what we could do,” says Stephane Germain, founder and president of the Montreal-based company. Climatecrisis247 believes satellite technology has become increasingly sophisticated at finding and tracking weather and events that damage the climate. This will only become more sophisticated as time passes.

More New York City Smoke

New York should brace for more dangerous air pollution from Canadian wildfires. Last year, the event nearly blotted out the Sun in America’s largest city, and it did the same as far south as Washington and west as Minneapolis. According to Spectrum News 1, “Glenn McGillivray, managing director at the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, said this could be a more prevalent issue for New Yorkers.” Climatecrisis247 believes that many scientists believe that the thick smoke is the “new normal” because wildfires will recur each year. This climate “new normal” has spread worldwide as extraordinary climate events become nearly permanent. Among these is the rapidly rising number of days that the temperatures in Phoenix are above 110 degrees F in the summer.

Climate Healthcare

Health systems need to prepare to deal with the effects of climate change on the population. Nature published a paper titled “Analysing health system capacity and preparedness for climate change,” in which the authors wrote, “While increasing literature demonstrating the direct and indirect impacts of climate change focuses on health, the capacity and preparedness of healthcare systems to deal with these impacts are less frequently considered.” Climatecrisis247 believes that this is neither new nor unique. Many studies and observations have shown that treating people in areas widely hit by extreme heat, drought, floods, and hurricanes is complex and extremely expensive to manage.
