Despite a slowing in EV sales and Tesla’s decision to end the aggressive expansion of its nationwide charging station network, the overall charging station footprint in the US keeps growing. According to the Transportation Department’s Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, 167,777 in April. That is up from 134,456 in April a year ago. The new number includes 41,065 fast chargers. A key temperature target for the success of the battle against global warming may be reached well before most forecasts. According to The Guardian, “Hundreds of the world’s leading climate scientists expect global temperatures to rise to at least 2.5C (4.5F) this century, blasting past internationally agreed targets and causing catastrophic consequences for humanity and the planet, an exclusive survey has revealed.” Climatecrisis247 believes that the future will be one of huge and violent weather extremes that affect hundreds of millions of people. most of whom are impoverished. The health disasters could be nearly beyond belief and increasingly deadly. Migration, which will be necessary to move people from areas of the world that will no longer sustain large populations, and that willl be impossible.

April Sets Global Temperature Record

Last month was the hottest April in history, according to the Copernicus Climate Change Service. This has been the case for the 11th month in a row. The organization reports, “April 2024 was warmer globally than any previous April in the data record, with an average ERA5 surface air temperature of 15.03°C, 0.67°C above the 1991-2020 average for April and 0.14°C above the previous high set in April 2016.” Climatecrisis247 believes this is another sign that the effort to combat global warming, both by nations and industries continues to fail.
