Oh, the Irony… Forecast Warmer Fall Temps Could cut Heating-caused Emissions
Due to climate change, the U.S. is expected to experience a warmer-than-normal fall, particularly in the South and Northeast — and this could potentially lowering heating oil and gas usage, thus reducing emissions and resulting pollution and greenhouse gases. In regions like New England and surrounding states, households may not need to rely on heating oil throughout the day. And if this trend extends into winter, as forecast by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, heating oil consumption could remain below average through the 2024-2025 winter.
