Wildfire Smoke Blankets Much of the U.S. Year-Round

Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, highlights a new analysis from the Harvard Gazette showing that wildfire smoke has become a nationwide issue. Once confined to the western U.S., smoke now spreads across much of the country — including major cities in the Midwest and East Coast — due to massive, long-burning fires in Canada. These so-called “peak fires” are increasingly impacting air quality far beyond their origin points and are unlikely to subside for generations.
