A stretch of cities ranging from Tennessee to Upstate New York will receive several inches of rain, while a coastal storm off the Atlantic Coast will soak South Florida. The National Weather Service has issued coastal flood advisories in 33 counties, representing 8.0 million Americans. The NWS has also issued separate flood warnings in 34 more inland counties, covering 15.7 million Americans. In Arizona, a severe thunderstorm is combining with dust to create hazardous air quality conditions for vulnerable populations. To determine the cities forecast to get the most rain this weekend, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on quantitative precipitation forecasts from the NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database. Cities were ranked based on total forecast cumulative rainfall for the period September 5 to 7, 2025. Only cities with at least 100,000 were considered. Population data is from the U.S. Census Bureau.
