Natural Gas Has Big Comeback

Natural gas provides 43% of US electricity according to the EIA. The plan is that this will be replaced by renewables over time. At this point, wind is 10% of the supply, and solar is 4%. The idea was to phase out coal, the dirtiest of fossil fuels, which is at 16%. As the need for electricity soars, natural gas is about to make a comeback.

According to Inside Climate News, research firm RMI has become a leading provider of AI server farm solutions. It reviewed the current plans for utilities to provide electricity. “All 128 plans found that utilities were looking to build twice as much natural gas capacity as they had anticipated just 18 months earlier.”

Natural gas releases, among other things, methane and carbon dioxide during its entire lifecycle, from extraction to use, contributing to climate change. With a comeback of its use, the green targets of the US will almost certainly be missed.

Data Centers

Add natural gas to the new need for coal creates a green energy catastrophe

Data centers will be controlled by giants Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Oracle. They have limitless money to lobby politicians. Natural gas will make a comeback. They will pay for it at both the political and infrastructure levels.
