Is China Lying About Climate?

Over the course of many years and many leaders. China has had a problem, or perhaps it is the rest of the world that has one. China’s statements are unreliable, particularly when they are vague.
China told the United Nations that it would make its first firm commitment to help slow the world’s global warming. The promise is based on an aggressive path. However, China’s green growth is impressive. However, so is its position as the world’s leading producer of pollution.
President Xi Jinping told a U.N. climate summit that China would sharply reduce its emissions by increasing its renewable energy fivefold. He also said rapid EV sales would help. The net result is that carbon dioxide emissions are expected to drop by 7% to 10% by 2035. It is unlikely that outsiders will be able to see if China sticks to that, and, based on its massive greenhouse gas emissions, the range is extensive
These promises will be fulfilled to a large extent through a growing reliance on wind, solar, and hydro. China still relies heavily on coal for its energy needs. This would need to drop very rapidly.
China Renewables
Additionally, the China numbers may be good, but they do not reach the targets set for it (or by it) under the Paris Agreement.
China has several hurdles. Its economy has been mixed in the last two years. Tariffs could drive down its economic growth..However, a new deal with the US and rising exports to other countries could change this.
Additionally, China has its own AI aspirations, which means it needs to keep pace with the US in terms of advancement. The US forecasts for energy needs for AI show that they are colossal. China has to get that energy somewhere
