Solar Farm Bigger Than Chicago

There is already ample evidence that China has surpassed the rest of the world in solar development. Ember reports that renewables generate 26% of all energy in China. The expectation is that it will grow by double digits every year for the balance of the decade. China is the world’s largest polluter as measured by greenhouse emissions. However, the costs of building solar infrastructure there are very low.
In a sign of how aggressive China has become in terms of solar power, it is building a solar facility the size of Chicago in terms of square miles The 235 square mile facility will be built in Tibet’s largest plateau
According to The Independent, seven million panels are already in place and could power five million homes.
China has moved aggressively in the direction of green energy. Much of the rest of the world is moving the other way, particularly if Donald Trump can successfully make his pitch for fossil fuels and against renewables. He made another step in that direction during a UN speech.
US Moves Back To Oil
Trump has begun to pressure the EU to follow his lead in the direction of fossil fuels. His argument is that the economy will grow fast when abundant energy is available and used. That argues for the rapid expansion of crude, natural gas, and coal.
China may find itself alone among the world’s developed nations in terms of its energy sources.
