The wildfire season has started in earnest in California. As many as 1,000 lightning strikes set off fires near Fresno. Over 10,000 acres have burned already and are not under control. The challenges are not just the fires; three are active and growing. Fires of this size usually start much later in the year. Climatecrisis247 believes that, while it is a bad sign, wildfires have started early. The number of 1,000 lightning strikes in three hours may be unprecedented.

EV Habits? –Switch Backe To Gas Cars

Temperature Extremes –Coldest Place In the World

AlixPartners, a major consulting firm, believes Chinese cars could overwhelm much of the car industry by the end of the decade in a new analysis titled “The Traditional Automotive Operating Model Must Change as China Brands Poised to Capture One-third of the Global Automotive Market by 2030.” The author writes, “By 2030, Chinese brands will be a dominant force around the world, selling 9 million units outside China, for a 33% global share. Growth will be built on cost advantages; localized production strategies that will enable a build-where-you-sell strategy in non-China markets.” Climatecrisis247 believes that, if true, this could quickly undermine the sales and profits of the world’s largest car companies. One critical part of the forecast is that Chinese companies are willing to build cars locally, not just in China. If the prediction is true, traditional car manufacturers will need large fleets of cheap EVs and features attractive to people who currently drive gas-powered cars.

Sports And Global Warming

According to Climate News, a new book, Warming Up: How Climate Change Is Changing Sport, analyzes how global warming will affect several sports. “The book is jam-packed with information and has something for sports fanatics and casual fans alike.” Most focus is on the effects of warming temperatures, rising seas, and increasing wildfires. Climatecrisis247 believes this is a quickly emerging trend. Recently, there has been research on how dangerous high temperatures could be for athletes in the Paris Olympics later this summer.

Challenge Of Traffic Jams

Driving may affect climate change beyond car emissions. According to the LA Times, public policymakers have an additional problem.”The goal is to reduce congestion on a clogged stretch of highway, which sounds good — nobody likes traffic. But in the long run, transportation experts warn, widening freeways typically induces more driving, ultimately causing traffic to back up again — and making global warming worse.” Climatecrisis247 believes this is yet another climate-damaging situation that cannot be fixed, at least soon. Changing infrastructures like highway systems is impossible. The only improvement can come via more use of electric cars
