Trump Staff Starts To Take Electricity Blame
Someone is going to be blamed for America’s electricity shortage and the hockey stick rise in rates it will cause, especially with residential consumers. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said it will be his party that will take the heat, he told Politico. He believes that is wrong. Biden’s policies are to blame, he says. That may not help Republicans at the Midterm Elections. People have short members, particularly when it comes to inflation.
There is a case that neither party is to blame. AI servers farms run by the likes of Microsoft, Meta, and Google will eat up most of the electricity which residents used to have ready access to. And, AI will eat more than the current supply. High rates may turn into blackouts as occasionally happens in California as a means to prevent forest fires. At least the forest fire decisions are to protect people
Server Farm Demand
AI server farm demand was not forecast to be nearly what it is today, and will be tomorrow. Almost no one could look out at the horizon and see that AI software use would spread so quickly and that to feed its functions would need a supply that, in some parts of America, would be double what is available.
The rise in electricity prices is already a political football, town by town and city by city. Recently, it has been state by state, as most rates are set at a local level. .
The one thing neither party can do is fix the problem. The electricity demand for AI is too great. Add to that crypto mining and air conditioning and the management becomes impossible. Coal can come back, but that presents another set of problems.
