The heat wave is concentrated in the Pacific Northwest. While triple-digit temperatures are normally contained to Phoenix and other Southwest metro areas this time of year, Lewiston, Idaho, and Wenatchee, Washington are both forecast to hit 101°F this weekend. A closer look at the data reveals the cities where temperatures will be dangerously hot this weekend.
To determine the cities where temperatures will be dangerously hot this weekend, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on temperature forecasts from the NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database. Cities under extreme heat warnings from the NWS were ranked based on maximum forecast temperature for the period September 6 to 7, 2025. Only cities with at least 25,000 residents were considered.
