Google searches for “climate change” spiked on Election Day, with relative interest in some states more than doubling. A look at Google Trends search data reveals a list of states where climate change concern is rising as Americans prepare for a second Trump term.
To determine the states where climate change concern spiked after the election, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed search activity data from Google Trends. States were ranked based on the percentage increase in relative search interest for the topic of “climate change” from November 4, 2024 to the two-day period ending November 6, 2024. Supplemental data on presidential election outcomes are from The New York Times and are current as of the evening of November 6, 2024.
