While most of the country is forecast to have relatively pleasant weather this Election Day, some key swing states are projected to have possible thunderstorms and temperature anomalies that could influence voter turnout. A closer look at temperature forecasts shows what the weather will be like as Americans take to the polls in the largest U.S. cities.

To determine the election day forecast for the largest cities, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed local forecast data and temperature projections from the NOAA’s National Digital Forecast Database. Forecast daily maximums and minimums for November 5, 2024 were aggregated from the grid level to the place level using boundary definitions from the U.S. Census Bureau. The rank is ordered by maximum projected temperature.
