The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for 35 counties, representing more than four million Americans. There are fourteen counties forecast to receive more than four inches of rain in the next 72 hours, and seven counties are under flash flood watch. A closer look at the data reveals the cities where severe thunderstorms will bring the most rain this week.
To determine the cities where severe thunderstorms will bring the most rain this week, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on quantitative precipitation and severe thunderstorm probability forecasts from the National Weather Service of the NOAA. Cities were ranked based on total forecast cumulative rainfall for the period June 11 to 13, 2025. Only cities with at least 50,000 residents and a non-zero chance of experiencing severe thunderstorms during the period were considered. Population data is from the U.S. Census Bureau.
