At the same time, a late summer cold front is bringing heavy downpours to cities more inland. The system is running somewhat parallel to Hurricane Erin, and is forecast to deliver nearly two inches of rain in dozens of major cities. While the system is separate from Erin, the combination of heavy inland rain and coastal storm surge could complicate travel in large parts of the East Coast. A closer look at the data reveals the cities that will get the most rainfall this weekend.
To determine the cities that will get the most rainfall this weekend, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on quantitative precipitation forecasts from the National Weather Service of the NOAA. Cities were ranked based on total forecast cumulative rainfall for the period August 22 to 24, 2025. Only cities with at least 50,000 were considered. Population data is from the U.S. Census Bureau.
