These Major Cities Are Under Weather Hazard Warnings Right Now

Nationwide, there are currently 301 counties under hazardous weather warnings and advisories, representing 13.4% of the U.S. population. A closer look at the data reveals a scattering of flood warnings along the East Coast, dense fog advisories in the Midwest and Southern California, and heat advisories in the Southwest impacting some of the nation’s largest cities.
To determine the major cities under hazardous weather warnings and advisories right now, Climate Crisis 247 reviewed data on current weather warnings from the National Weather Service of the NOAA. Cities whose boundaries intersect with weather warnings or advisories as of September 24, 2024 were ranked by total population. City population, housing unit, and spatial boundary data is from the U.S. Census Bureau.
