America Could Ruin Greenland

If the Administration gets its way, the US will own Greenland. That is not likely, but there may be a broad mineral rights agreement similar to the one being negotiated with Ukraine.
*Future Of Oil
Greenland is one of the oil and mineral-rich areas of the world that has not been tapped for these resources. If that tapping starts, the environmental effect will be substantial. According to Politico EU, “Environmental campaigners worry that the prospect of Greenland falling into Trump’s hands could mean the oil and gas drilling ban is dropped, leading to more emissions they say amounts to a “carbon bomb.”’ It could also deeply damage the island’s ecosystem, accelerating glacier melting and creating oil and gas fields across parts of the area. There would also need to be vast amounts of piping, leading to spills.
Mineral Deposits
The USGS “estimated that the East Greenland Rift Basins Province contains approximately (mean) 31,400 million barrels oil equivalent (MMBOE) of oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids.”
A large US footprint in Greenland would mean huge military bases for both the army and the navy. These would be in the south to patrol and protect the North Atlantic and in the far north of the island to monitor and protect the Arctic region.
Military Bases
A huge US presence in Greenland could be a huge ecological disaster.
