American Leaders Have Known About Climate Change Dangers For Decades

Senior American elected officials have known about the danger of climate change since the middle of the last century. However, they did not bother to tell the public.
According to Yale’s Climate Connections, “While doing other research, Harvard professor and historian of science Naomi Oreskes stumbled upon a surprising discovery: As early as the 1950s, scientists were already warning about the dangers of human-made climate change. Yet despite this early evidence, public understanding of climate science has long been obscured by a decades-long campaign of disinformation orchestrated by the fossil fuel industry.”
The Guardian Investigation
The information is not new. The Guadian published information last November from The Climate Investigations Center. It said the oil company cover-up goes back to 1953. The Air Pollution Foundation, which did the coverup work, was supported by the world’s largest crude producers.
Dozens of lawsuits by cities, counties, and states have resulted from this discovery of keeping information from the government. Each seeks damages for pollution that has harmed humans, savaged the environment, and driven much of global warming. Some of these suits are for billions of dollars. Whatever the results, these will be dragged through the courts for years.
