Climate Destroying Wine Industry
A wine industry association says the industry had its worst harvest in 62 years. It blamed climate change for the problem. The International Organisation of Vine and Wine organization said in its report on the sector for 2023, “Extreme climatic conditions and widespread fungal diseases severely impacted many vineyards worldwide, culminating in a historically low global wine production of 237 million hectolitres. This marked a 10% drop from 2022 and represented the lowest output since 1961.”
Wine Sales Worldwide
Global wine consumption was 5,838,202,357 gallons last year. The industry’s revenue is about $353 billion. Consumption has been falling in recent years, in some cases due to inflation.
Just One Of Many Crops Destroyed
