Greece Hotter Than Saudi Arabia As Temps Hit 122 Degrees

Temperatures in Greece have hit over 120 degrees F, which is as hot as the peak temperatures in Saudi Arabia. This heat and winds have caused some of the largest wildfires in the world.

Some of these fires have also occurred in Turkey

These wildfires are not unlike those in LA at the start of the year. One major difference is temperature. The level in Greece is much higher than in LA. Extremely high winds are what spread the California blazes

The bad news from both Greece and LA is that there is not just one reason these futures start and spread. In some cases, the most notable problem is drought. In others it is heat, and in still others it is wind.

According to IQAir, “The scientific consensus is clear – according to more than 99% of peer reviewed scientific literature, climate change can be attributed to human activity. Earth’s changing climate means larger, more extreme, and more frequent wildfires around the world.”

These wildfires, taken together, cost hundreds of billions of dollars a year in physical damage and insurance losses. They also drive up insurance costs for residences and business in these areas, making the “cost of living.” more expensive.

Finally, over time these dangerous fires could cause climate migration. People will try to move to places where fires are less of a risk.
