Trump Cannot Crush Solar And Wind

No matter what the Trump Administration does to undermine the solar and wind industries in the US, each is growing rapidly elsewhere. Almost every other nation sees the need for renewables, even if fossil fuels are available. In each of these cases, much of the impetus is the fate of the world if global warming continues.
The FT reports that, globally, energy from renewables has topped coal for the first time. China has been a leader in this trend, despite being the most polluting nation in the world. What is encouraging is that the world’s third-worst polluter is making progress. “The IEA also upgraded its forecast for India’s renewable energy growth by 10 per cent, putting it on track to become the second-largest renewables growth market globally after China.”
Africa and the Middle East are two other regions leading the transition away from fossil fuels.
China Is Leader
The US is not the only challenge to lowering the pace of global warming; some EU nations are following Trump’s lead. Trump and US oil executives have even gone so far as to travel to Europe to lobby for the increased use of fossil fuels. This, of course, will help the bottom line of US companies, such as Exxon.
China, despite its current carbon footprint, remains the nation leading the world out of the fossil fuel age. According to the FT …” China “continues to account for nearly 60 per cent of global renewable capacity growth, and was on track to meet its target for wind and solar power five years early by 2035.
