Trump’s Latest EPA Layoffs

The Administration is using the government shutdown to further cut the green parts of the federal government levels. The EPA is the latest victim, and the cuts may be permanent. 

According to The Hill, the Resource Conservation and Sustainability Division had been hit hard if not eliminated. The move is what is called a “Reduction In Force.” That, in itself, is a signal that it may not return.  The Administration blamed the action on the Democrats’ refusal to vote to reopen the government. It is part of the Republican salvo. 

How Long Will It Be Closed?

It is the job of the EPA to make sure Americans have clean air and water, support the science to do so, and to clean up and regulate contaminated parts of the country. 

As with all such cuts, no one knows which agencies will be reopened. Also, no one knows what happens if they remain closed.
