U.S. Energy Official Calls 2050 Environment Goals A “Train Wreck”
“Net zero 2050 is just a colossal train wreck…It’s just a monstrous human impoverishment program and of course there is no way it is going to happen,” U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright posted on X. Anyone who believes that the U.S. has climate goals can now see that it doesn’t. The Trump Administration’s movements are in the opposite direction.
At the core of the Trump argument is that clean energy initiatives hold back the economy, and that is bad for business and the prosperity of Americans. Any brakes on those are dangerous to the American economy.
The Trump plan has played out in the light of day recently. The Administration has torn down the offshore wind energy business, causing it to lose billions of dollars.
Goal Warming Rejection
Tax credits for residential solar and EV have been discontinued. There has been a report that 50% of new cars sold in the U.S. would be EVs. Recently, iSeeCars put the 2028 figure at 4%.
The oil and coal industries could not be better off. The Trump Administration is opening up vast parts of the country, including public lands. The rising need for electricity will be provided to some extent by coal. Coal is among the fossil fuels that was on its way to being phased out. It is the most polluting of fossil fuels.
