Jamie Dimon, the world’s most famous banker, released his annual letter to shareholders. Among the comments he made was the oil and gas will be part of the economy indefinitely. , Bloomberg reports: “Jamie Dimon said US delays of liquefied natural gas projects were done for political reasons to pacify those who believe oil and gas projects should simply be stopped — a position he calls “wrong” and “enormously naïve.” Climatecrisis24 believes that Dimon is among a group of senior American executives, including oil and gas CEOs, who think one of the nation’s strategic strengths is its vast energy production. Even the Biden Administration has admitted oil is an essential form of energy while renewable energy comes online to the extent it can replace fossil fuels. This will not be soon based on the pace of development of these alternatives.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled that six Portuguese youths and a French mayor did not have the ability to force nations to honor their greenhouse gas emissions obligations. However, Reuters said the court “sided with a group of senior Swiss women who also sought such measures.” The ruling involving the women’s group only included measures the Swiss government should take, not a wider group of nations. Climatecrisis247 believes that because the ruling does not include a much larger number of countries in the EU, it will have little or no effect on Europe’s broader failures to live up to greenhouse gas emissions obligations.
Another Temperature Record
The Copernicus Climate Change Center says ten consecutive months have set heat records worldwide. Its scientists reported, “March 2024 was warmer globally than any previous March in the data record with an average ERA5 surface air temperature of 14.14°C.” ( ERA5 provides hourly estimates for a large number of atmospheric, ocean-wave and land-surface quantities.) Climatecrisis247 believes that the information should come as no surprise. Both monthly and annual data show that the earth’s temperature is not only rising but is rising at a rate more rapidly than expected. It is a sign the efforts to slow the effects of greenhouse gases have largely been a failure.
Meteorites And Climate Change
Meteorites have become an important factor in climate change evaluation. According to an article in Nature titled “Antarctic meteorites threatened by climate warming,” More than 60% of the meteorites found worldwide are in the Antarctic. “Even when temperatures are well below zero, meteorites, with their characteristic dark crust, warm when exposed to solar radiation11 and can melt the underlying ice. The warmed meteorite generates a small water melt pocket below the stone, resulting in a surface depression that deepens over time into a hole, which (in conjunction with refreezing meltwater) results in the disappearance (‘sinking’) of the meteorite from the surface.” Climatecrisis247 believes that while the discovery seems unimportant, it is one more sign that temperatures in Antarctica are rising, which eventually, as the ice melts, can cause the seas to rise, threatening coastal areas worldwide.
