A new giant roars: How Chinese EV-maker BYD Threatens to sink Ford and GM
BYD, China’s leading EV manufacturer, has become the largest globally, surpassing even Tesla. While high tariffs keep BYD out of the U.S. and, to a lesser extent, Europe, the company is building factories in Europe to avoid these restrictions. In China, BYD has outpaced Ford and GM, leading to a significant decline in their market share. The company’s strategy extends beyond China, with BYD making inroads into medium-sized countries, capturing markets that Ford and GM previously dominated.
