AI Work by Microsoft, Google and Elon Musk’s company Continues To Push America’s Electric Grid
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports from New York City on how Elon Musk’s AI company, XAI, is preparing to raise $20 billion, pushing its valuation to $140 billion. McIntyre explains that as XAI joins Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and OpenAI among the top AI players, the demand for electricity in the U.S. will skyrocket. With an already strained grid, the surge in AI-related energy consumption could force either a rapid acceleration of renewable energy projects or a dangerous return to fossil fuels like coal.
