China’s EV Industry Will Lose 100 Companies
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, compared the U.S. auto industry’s consolidation in the 1920s to what’s now unfolding in China. While China currently has 129 car companies, BYD predicts only about 15 will survive as competition, debt, and unpaid suppliers force many out. McIntyre noted that government support and growing EV adoption mean China doesn’t need all of these companies for the industry to thrive.
