Damage Caused By Los Angeles Wildfires Reaches $80 Billion and Going Higher
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis, reports on the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, which have already caused an estimated $80 billion in damages according to AccuWeather. With over 100,000 residents evacuated, zero containment of the fires, and winds surpassing 100 miles per hour, the destruction is expected to worsen. McIntyre notes that the damage could reach $100 billion soon, with estimates factoring in both immediate destruction and long-term economic losses to the region’s GDP. He warns that if the winds persist, the situation will become even more catastrophic.
