Florida Migration Slows as Hurricanes and Insurance Costs Rise
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, explains that Florida’s net migration has sharply declined—from 314,000 in 2022 to just 64,000 last year. While tax benefits remain attractive, increasing hurricane threats and soaring insurance rates are deterring newcomers and pushing some residents out. McIntyre notes that this trend could lead to falling real estate prices and slower population growth.
