Rapid Glacier Melt Floods Alaska’s Capital
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports that a melting glacier north of Juneau, Alaska, caused the Mendenhall River to hit record levels, flooding parts of the state capital. He notes that such floods have intensified since 2011 due to rapid glacier melt from rising temperatures. Alaska, warming faster than any other U.S. state, faces growing climate risks that now directly threaten its seat of government.
