Something Called ‘Rainfall Intensity’ Surges in Wichita, Reno, El Paso and other US Cities

Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports that extreme rainfall intensity has surged in multiple U.S. cities, with Wichita, Reno, Fairbanks, El Paso, and Sioux Falls among the most affected. A Climate Central study found that hourly rainfall intensity has risen by over 33% in several areas, disrupting cities that were not built for such extreme fluctuations. Now, these cities face urgent infrastructure challenges, requiring major investments in streets, drainage, and flood prevention systems to cope with these accelerating climate impacts.
