Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, reports that Texas ranks second in the U.S. for major power outages and leads the nation in total outage hours. A new study covering 2019 to 2023 shows Texas experienced over 7,100 blackouts, with annual downtime surpassing 35,000 hours. Rising temperatures, high demand for air conditioning, and new energy-intensive AI data centers are putting additional strain on the power grid.
