McDonald’s New Uniforms Will Help Save Environment

The new uniforms for McDonald’s store workers are manufactured in a way that makes them more environmentally friendly than those worn today. They will help with the proliferation of microplastics

According to National Restaurant News, “The new McDonald’s crew uniforms are made with CiClo technology, which allows polyester to biodegrade at similar rates to natural materials.” Current polyester uniforms “shed” plastic microfibers.”

The company that makes the uniforms said, “CiCLO synthetic textiles behave like natural fibers when they end up as pollutants in the environment.”

This all may be well and good. McDonald’s has 14,300 locations in the US. About 90% of these are franchises, and McDonald’s has limited control over them.

Better Uniforms

McDaon’d’s says it will be carbon neutral by 2050 Uniforms are a tiny part of the problem. McDonald’s is among the largest consumers of meat in the US, and farm animals release huge amounts of methane. 

So much for the uniforms.
