Why Electric Vehicles Are the Least Stolen Cars in America
Electric vehicles (EVs) are the least stolen cars in the U.S., with the Tesla Model 3 topping the list. Four out of the six least stolen vehicles are EVs, while muscle cars and V8 engines remain the most targeted by thieves. The low theft rate for EVs can be attributed to the same reasons they aren’t popular in the new car market: limited battery range and scarce charging infrastructure. Furthermore, stolen EVs are difficult to resell due to their high cost. While owning an EV reduces theft risk, it also comes with ownership challenges.
